Working overtime takes California employees away from their families and relaxation time. Many workers are entitled to time-and-a-half pay for overtime, but some employers try to get out of their legal obligations.
The employment law attorneys of the Law Offices of Reisner & King LLP are committed to fighting for the rights of workers in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California. We aggressively pursue rightfully earned overtime wages and put a stop to employers’ illegal wage practices. Our employment law practice focuses 100 percent of representing workers, never employers.
We offer free initial consultations on all employment law matters. Call our Sherman Oaks office at 818-981-0901 to schedule an appointment with one of our lawyers.
In California, you must be a “nonexempt” employee to qualify for overtime pay. In general, workers not exempt from overtime rules are salaried workers who do not perform management duties on the job. As a nonexempt worker, you must be paid at least time and a half for any work you perform past eight hours in a single workday or 40 hours in a work week. If you work more than 12 hours in a day or eight hours a day for seven consecutive days, you are entitled to double pay for those excess hours.
If you have been wrongfully denied overtime pay, your employer may claim that you are not entitled to it. Wage and hour law can be complicated and there are a lot of facts to consider. One of our employment law attorneys will work hard to investigate your case and argue persuasively on your behalf.
